What Is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a safe, evidence-based approach to treating pain, injury, and movement issues. It combines hands-on techniques, guided exercise, and practical advice to help your body move better and heal faster.

At Physio Strong Albany, we take the time to understand your specific needs so we can design a plan that works for your body and your goals — whether you’re managing a chronic condition, recovering from injury, or aiming to prevent future problems.

Who Is It For?

Our physiotherapy services are suitable for people of all ages and activity levels. Whether you're recovering from surgery, dealing with a workplace or sports injury, managing chronic pain, or needing support after an acute injury — we can help.

We also support athletes, parents, tradies, and office workers with targeted treatments and ongoing rehab programs.

What to Expect

At your first appointment, we’ll assess your condition, ask about your health history and goals, and start treatment right away. We use a combination of techniques including:

  • Joint and soft tissue mobilisation
  • Tailored exercises and rehab plans
  • Dry needling (if appropriate)
  • Taping, posture support, and movement education

Our Approach

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all treatment. Each session is designed to give you time, attention, and a clear path forward. We’ll work with you at your pace, adjusting the plan as you improve.

You’ll always know what we’re working on — and why.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about our services? Here are answers to some of the most common ones to help you get started with confidence.
Do I need a referral to see a physio?

No referral is needed unless you're claiming through workers’ compensation, DVA, or under a care plan from your GP. For all other cases, you can book directly.

How many physio sessions will I need?

It depends on your condition and goals. Some people feel better after just a few sessions, while others benefit from a longer rehab plan. We’ll reassess your progress regularly and keep you informed every step of the way.

Do you treat both new and long-term injuries?

Yes — we treat both fresh injuries and long-standing niggles that haven’t fully healed. If something keeps coming back, we’ll help you understand why and work on fixing the root cause.

Can I claim physio through private health?

Yes, we offer HICAPS for on-the-spot claiming with most major health funds. Just bring your card to your appointment and we’ll take care of the rest.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear something comfortable that allows you to move freely — like activewear or loose clothing. If we need to treat a specific area, we’ll let you know if anything else is required.
